Hi, there are some good books which you can order from Ordnance Survey (www.ordsvy.gov.uk) and you can get cycling maps from sustrans.org.uk.
I think you can only camp in camp sites, but there are a lot of these in England.
Try Sustrans, they are on the web, they are resposible for most of the cycleways in this country, about 7,000 miles of them so far.

Huge fun but everyday had its frustrations: signs that were missing, signs that were pointing in the wrong direction and junctions and turning where there was no attempt at signing.

The bridge links the new arts and cultural developments of Baltic and The Sage Gateshead on Gateshead Quays on the south bank of the river with Newcastle Quayside on the north side.
The bridge can open for ships to pass through in just four minutes, powered by eight highly energy-efficient electric motors delivering a massive 589 horsepower.  It is the only purpose-built bridge for cyclists across the river and joins two cross-country riverside cycleways, which form part of a national network.
