Cykranosh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cykranosh is the creation of Clark Ashton Smith and is part of his Hyperborean cycle.
It is replete with forests of giant fungi, lakes of a strange mercurial liquid, and fields of a bluish, semi-mineral, cactus-like (and possibly sentient) flora covered with razor-sharp spines and serrated blades.
Cykranosh is also inhabited by intelligent bipeds as well, such as the Bhlemphroims and the Ydheems.

Cykranosh was a name for the planet Saturn in the time of ancient Hyperborea (about one million years ago).
Tsathoggua and Atlach-Nacha came to Earth from that world, while the former's uncle Hziulquoigmnzhah still lives there to this day.
The wizard Eibon escaped to Cykranosh when he was being pursued by inquisitors of Yhoundeh.

eptentrion is raw, cold northern Black Metal; born through the nightmares of Cykranosh and accomplished through the efforts of Moribundus and Teemu, our aim is to recreate the bloodfreezing fears of long gone years.
Here you may learn of the dark past of Septentrion, or listen to the dead voices, read the poetry of death, acquire knowledge of present-day events or behold the diabolic shapes.

The Door to Saturn by Clark Ashton Smith
For reasons which he did not specify, he had come to Earth in former aeons from the planet Cykranosh (the name by which Saturn was called in Mhu Thulan); and Cykranosh itself had been merely a waystation in his travels from remoter worlds and systems.
Some of Zhothaqquah's relatives were still resident in Cykranosh and were worshipped by its peoples; and Zhothaqquah told Eibon the almost unpronounceable name of the most powerful of these deities, saying that it would be useful to him as a sort of password if he should ever need to visit Cykranosh.
He was trying to recall the almost inarticulable name that had been confided to him by the god as a sort of password, when the owner of that unusual shadow, without seeming to note Eibon's presence, began a descent of the terraces and ledges toward the lake.

 Tsathoggua (aka Zhothaqquah)
Tsathoggua, who came flying from Outer Space via Cykranosh (Saturn) in time immemorial, is one of the Great Old Ones, as are Cthulhu and several other deities.
One point which definitively differentiates Tsathoggua from the other deities is, while most of them are merely destructive gods with no apparent purpose, he (she) is a more commonplace "god" that was daily worshipped, and takes interest in humanity.
Tsathoggua is a creation by Clark Ashton Smith, who was a friend of HPL and is considered one of the three Greatest Authors of Cthulhu mythos, as which name are designated R. Howard as well.

Ultimately, the set-up exists to deliver a twist finale that mocks the pretensions of religious quests.

He is described at "very squat and pot-bellied, his head was more like that of a monstrous toad than a deity, and his whole body was covered with an imitation of short fur, giving somehow a vague suggestion of both the bat and the sloth.
