Cyprien Ntaryamira (March 6, 1955 - April 6, 1994), was President of (A landlocked republic in east central Africa on the northeastern shore of Lake Tanganyika) Burundi from February 5, 1994 until he was assassinated on April 6.
Ntaryamira was born in the Mageyo zone, commune of Mubimbi, province of Rural Bujumbura, in what was then the (A native or inhabitant of Belgium) Belgian-dominated (An organization of independent states formed in 1945 to promote international peace and security) United Nations Trust Territory of Burundi.
Ntaryamira eventually receive a degree in (The class of people engaged in growing food) agriculture from the National University of Rwanda in (The national capital and largest city of Rwanda; located in central Rwanda) Kigali in 1982.

In the early 1990s a rebellion against Habyarimana's Rwandan government began when rebels from the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a force of mostly Tutsi Rwandan expatriates who had defected en masse from the Ugandan army, crossed the border from Uganda.
On April 6, 1994, Habyarimana's private Falcon 50 jet crashed near Kigali Airport, killing both Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira, the Hutu president of Burundi.
At the time, the Hutu Power media claimed the plane had been shot down on orders from RPF leader Paul Kagame.
