 Protest against Annans unjust "plan" for Cyprus
Cyprus demanded representation proportional to population on the council which means 2 seats out of 10 and the British and Americans who devised the “plan” in bad faith promptly reduced the seats on the council to 6 so that proportionally with population could not be implemented in practice.
The unethical Annan plan must be changed so that it does not legalise theft and ethnic cleansing and guarantees that the refugees can to return to their homes in safety and that their democratic rights in the place the choose to reside are respected.
I wish to receive assurances from you and from the governments of Cyprus and Greece that what I have asked for in the last 6 paragraphs will be adhered to and that Cyprus will not be sold out to serve foreign interests.

 Cypriots oppose Perverted Annan "plan"
BRITAIN'S envoy for Cyprus Lord David Hannay made changes to the UN peace plan to safeguard British interests, preventing thousands of refugees from Famagusta returning to their abandoned homes, informed sources claimed yesterday.
When the plan came out two weeks ago, the UN and the government said the two maps included had been designed to return of the maximum number of refugees to their homes, and the maps zig-zag to that effect.
According to informed sources, Britain's special envoy on the Cyprus problem intervened in the UN plan to water down the cross voting provisions, which were "clearly intended to bring the two communities closer together", in that the future leaders would have to pursue votes from both sides.

This reality was underlined in April by Turkish Cypriot intentions to use empty Greek Cypriot property in Turkish-controlled northern Cyprus to house mostly Muslim refugees from Kosovo, while Greek Cypriots bombarded the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia with tomatoes to protest the NATO bombing campaign against Serbia, another Christian Orthodox country.
It is 25 years ago this July that Turkish troops first stormed ashore on the coast of northern Cyprus to begin an operation that to this day remains for Greek Cypriots an invasion, and for Turkish Cypriots an act of liberation.
Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash argues that with the beginning of the EU accession process for the Republic of Cyprus, which is almost exclusively Greek Cypriot although it continues to be recognized internationally as the sole government of the island, intercommunal talks no longer make any sense.

The Annan plan sets complicated and restrictive provisions regarding the right of Greek-Cypriot refugees to return to their homes in the north.
On the issue of property rights, the Annan plan allows for one-third restitution and two-thirds compensation for property owned in the north by Greek-Cypriots who will be losing the use of their properties.
If the plan is voted down, it would be an indication that the Greek-Cypriots, whose country suffered an illegal invasion in 1974, and a community which has for three decades advocated for a settlement, felt that they would be giving up far more than they would be gaining.

Political leaders on both sides of divided Cyprus, in Greece and Turkey got down to the tricky task of evaluating a proposal for a settlement of the Cyprus problem yesterday, the day after UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan presented his plan to end 28 years of division.
The initial verdict was that the proposal was a basis for negotiations, but a Greek-Cypriot refugee group protested that refugees would not be able to return to their property in the north.
The Greek Cabinet will discuss it today and the government hopes that a climate of consensus here and in Cyprus will prevent dramatic denunciations of the proposal by the more «patriotic» members of the ruling PASOK party.
