Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa (born 17 November 1952) is a South African lawyer, trade union leader, activist, politician and businessman.
Ramaphosa was arrested in Lebowa, on the charge of organising or planning to take part in a meeting in Namakgale which was banned by the local magistrate.
Ramaphosa was elected as the first General Secretary of the union, a position he held until he resigned in June 1991, following his election as Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC).

Ramaphosa was born in Soweto on 17 November 1952.
The NUM was launched in 1982, and Ramaphosa was elected to the position of general secretary, a position he held until he resigned from the union in 1991 (following his election to SG of the ANC).
Ramaphosa played a crucial role in negotiations with the former South African regime to bring about a peaceful end to apartheid and steer the country towards its first democratic elections in April 1994.

In my book, Government by Deception, I mentioned that somebody once told me that Cyril Ramaphosa is really an ardent Communist of the worst kind and this person said to me: If Ramaphosa becomes the President "then the Whites are finished".
The General said that Cyril Ramaphosa was being groomed by the Americans, because they have bought into the fake businessman image - and the Americans will want Ramaphosa to get into power here because they believe he really is pro-Western, and pro-Capitalist.
It will be interesting to see, in the next 3 years, if Cyril Ramaphosa "returns to Politics", because then that could be the signal that our "crunch time" is coming.
