Membrane Permeabilization Induced by Cytolytic -Endotoxin CytA from Bacillus thuringiensis var.
We investigated the ability of CytA to permeabilize the membrane and release fluorescence marker molecules from unilamellar lipid vesicles.
The necessity of adsorption of this relatively large number of toxin molecules to trigger permeabilization, together with the lack of discrimination in the size of the released marker molecules, suggests that the effect of CytA is a general, detergent-like, perturbation of the membrane rather than creation of small, well-defined, proteinaceous channels.

The fact remains that CyTA, with cash it amassed via a 40-year monopoly and a history of overcharging, has enormous strength in the community that is deep-rooted in politics, society and even the media, and this strength needs to be controlled by the competition and regulatory authorities.
Without any doubt, the most serious of all of this is the blatant disrespect of the laws of the Republic and the EU from CyTA’s board, especially in regard to the competition authority rulings.
The taxpayer who paid for the building of CyTA should demand that they play fair, respect the laws and maintain value through prudent investments; killing their own revenue by manipulating pricing is a short-term solution to keeping competitors out that harms everyone, especially the consumer.
