Part Cherokee Indian, Rogers once told a Boston audience, "My ancestors didn't come over on the Mayflower, but they met the boat." Rogers got his show business start in 1902 doing rope tricks in a Wild West show.

As for who the Kongs actually were, Michael Lembeck (One Day at a Time) was Kaptain Kool, Debra Clinger (The American Girls) was Superchick, Mickey McMeel was Turkey, Louise Duart (DC Follies) was Nashville and Bert Sommer was Flatbush for one season, before the character disappeared.
It's worth noting, by the way, that while Kaptain Kool and the Kongs went on to show up on other Krofft shows (Donny and Marie among them), they were gone when the series made the jump to NBC in 1978.

 Ervin Drake - BIOGRAPHY
When Ervin M. Drake announced in 1975 that he was determined to lead the guild, then called AGAC or the American Guild of Authors and Composers, to Washington, DC to spearhead a songwriters' drive for a new Copyright Law, many people thought it impossible.
He had already contributed single songs to shows like "Artists and Models" and "The Ziegfield Follies" but he was looking for the right property to convert into a musical.
Drake fought this new fight side-by-side the publishers and, together, we won the new rate which has risen over the years to 8½ cents.
