The collaboration between six of DCCCD's colleges and the UTA College of Education is the most recent in a series of such agreements between UTA and other community colleges in Texas.
DCCCD wishes to cultivate an interest in teaching careers as early as elementary school and is working, through its colleges, with Dallas ISD schools and organizations (like Future Teachers of America) to plant that seed as soon as possible.
DCCCD is among the largest community college systems in the United States and is the largest undergraduate institution in Texas.

Although traditional elements of major fundraising campaigns were not yet in place, DCCCD leaders recognized that the timing was right to launch a major fundraising initiative to capitalize on the credibility and proven track record of the Dallas community colleges.
DCCCD and foundation staff continue to work collaboratively on the administrative details of tracking more than 1,000 Rising Star students now and expanding to another 29 high schools throughout the county.
The growth of the program to include all schools within the DCCCD service area has opened the fundraising doors of businesses and individuals with interests beyond the southern part of the county that was the focus during the pilot.

DCCCD distance learning courses are offered in four formats.
Dallas TeleCollege increases access to DCCCD programs and courses offered via distance learning by coupling instruction that can be offered at a true-distance, without campus-based requirements, with an array of student services accessible to students anywhere, anyplace.
As DCCCD colleges identify student demand for distance learning instruction in specific programs and courses, the college, through its appropriate instructional division, begins the process of adding the distance delivery option for a specific program or course.

To that end, DCCCD Chancellor Dr. Jesus "Jess" Cameron has been on a tour of communities served by the college district - outlining the needs and issues faced by the district, as well as soliciting community input.
Despite the funding discrepancies, Cameron's presentation indicates the DCCCD has maintained the lowest tuition and fees of all the community colleges in the state.
The tax rate for the DCCCD is the 45th lowest out of 50 and the last election for general obligation bonds was held in 1972.

By approving this articulation agreement, DeVry University Dallas assures the transfer of DCCCD courses in the associate degree as a block into the BSTM degree.
The DCCCD associate degree graduate who has completed appropriate coursework beyond the associate degree may apply up to 20 additional credit hours with a minimum course GPA of 2.0 toward the BSTM degree.
The DCCCD Chancellor and the DeVry University Dallas President, or their designees, must approve amendments to this articulation agreement.

 TI's Million Dollar Donation Completes the Funding for Rising Star Scholarship Program's Southern Sector Pilot
During the next two years, the DCCCD Foundation will be raising the funds for a $30 million endowment to ensure that every eligible Dallas County high school graduate with financial need who wants to earn a two-year college degree at one of DCCCD's seven colleges can also earn a full scholarship.
During the first year of the southern pilot, the DCCCD Foundation expects to provide full two-year scholarships to at least 400 students who might not otherwise have been able to afford a college education.
The DCCCD Foundation is a 501C3 non-profit organization that was created in 1973 to enhance achievement and excellence in DCCCD by providing student scholarships, supporting the professional development of faculty and staff and fostering innovation in DCCCD's educational programs.

The agreement provides for scholarships to DCCCD graduates in the amount of 10 percent of NCU's tuition for each course, up to $2,000 for a degree program and a reduced application fee.
Donald Hecht, president of NCU, said the purpose of the agreement is to enable students who graduate from any of DCCCD's associate's degree programs to transfer to NCU's baccalaureate programs and carry with them the credit they have already earned for as much relevant study as possible.
DCCCD includes Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland colleges.

I am also applying to DCCCD but you might want to look into some other schools aroung the DFW Metroplex like Tarrantr County, Collin County and Weatherford as a Plan B! The friends I have already in the program had A's in AandP I, and 2 classes out of the other three pre-reqs.
You have to have an A in AandP I or you won't have a 3.7, also the tie breaker is the Support courses!
I will definately look into other schools as well, but the scholarship I received was based on DCCCD's indistrict tuition.
