Musicians in various Flesh Eaters line-ups included Stan Ridgway (Wall of Voodoo), John Doe (X), DJBonebrake (X), Dave Alvin (The Blasters), Bill Bateman (The Blasters) and Steve Berlin (The Blasters, Los Lobos).
Considered by many to be a precursur of Death Rock, their music was a pastiche of rockabilly, road-house blues, punk rock and jazz.
John Doe and DJBonebrake from X, Dave Alvin and Bill Bateman from The Blasters and Steve Berlin from Los Lobos were scheduled to appear for these shows.
Bonebrake wrote an August 4 update on Seville's Website, explaining the breakup and telling fans to be on the lookout for new projects, such as Drueke's solo album to be released on local label Purple Skunk Records.
Bonebrake, who bailed from Dashboard Confessional in the midst of a sellout national tour bolstered by a hugely successful MTV Unplugged episode, is optimistically counting the days until he becomes the primary force behind his own endeavor.
Bonebrake's anxiety grew because he had already traded a steady paycheck for a less-lucrative life with Seville, where he was feeling like a hired hand again.
Davesontour.com talked on the telephone recently with XdrummerD.J. Bonebrake, who was getting ready to hit the road with his other band, The Knitters, on their summer 2005 U.S. tour.
DJ: John and Exene were asked to play some folk songs at a local club's "folk night" so they put something together.
DJ: Orchestra Superstring is a Latin jazz band, borderline exotica.
DJ was born in Burbank CA and grew up in North Hollywood.
In the late 1970's DJ joined a band called The Eyes which included Charlotte Caffey (later of the Go-Go's) and vocalist/guitarist Joe Ramirez.
The long awaited new CD by the Knitters (D.J. Bonebrake, Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Dave Alvin, and Johnny Ray Bartel) will be completed by the end of the summer and released early next year.
Their landmark 1980 record Los Angeles resonated so loudly with the artisans of the city it is named after, that the band received an Official Certificate of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles in acknowledgment of their important contributions to Los Angeles music and culture.
Original members were Exene Cervenka (born Christine Cervenka, vocals), John Doe (born John Duchac, bass and vocals), Billy Zoom (born Tyson Kindell, guitar) and DJBonebrake (born Donald J. Bonebrake, drums).
After Zoom retired from the band, Tony Gilkyson replaced him on guitar.

The house is in Madison, Wisconsin, but Bonebrake lives in Los Angeles.
I wonder if he's related to DJBonebrake of X fame.
I can also confirm that Bonebrake is not the hands on type.
Bonebrake's Syncopators: Led by DJBonebrake of punk band 34;X"; fame on vibes, this band is pure Swing in a style that's unexpected.
T-shirt sales will generally take place near the DJ booth of each respective venue and the price is $15.
The Syncopators are lead by DJBonebrake, drummer for X, a well known Los Angeles punk band, and feature TK Smith (Smith's Ranch Boys, Big Sandy), Jeremy Wakefield (The Lucky Stars), and Wally Hersom (Big Sandy, The Lucky Stars.)
Auntie Christ brings together two different generations of California punk: Exene and DJBonebrake of X with Rancid bassist Matt Freeman.
Her poetic wordcore - lines like "Drops of human nature fall from eyes/ But why should I cry?" - is nicely complemented by her country-tinged guitar playing.
The rest of the mix is propelled by DJBonebrake's rapid-fire drumming.
With the help of DJBonebrake on drums and Dave Carpenter Jr.
One track in particular "Laguna Canyon" does really bring us back to that hotel lounge in the 50’s that was cool and collected with a cigarette and a shot of bourbon to wash that girl away.
Violinist Chris Murphy brings back Grapelli and Venuti and Smith with this album and with the help of DJBonebrake on drums and Carpenter keeping the low end low, Murphy should not only bring himself into the spotlight with new fans but the violin as well.

After a 20 year recording hiatus, John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Dave Alvin, Jonny Ray Bartel and DJBonebrake join forces once again on their new album The Modern Sounds of The Knitters.
The five return with the alt-country sound they helped create on their 1985 debut, Poor Little Critter On The Road.
DJBonebrake has continued to perform with X as well as fronting the jazz combo Orchestra Superstring, a Los Angeles jazz band in which he plays the vibraphone.
America's Punk Instrumentalists are joined by Billy Zoom and DJBonebrake of X for the most amazing tribute album ever made.

I'm a huge fan and love the line up, but I can understand how the singer Exene might bum someone out, and turn them off(even though I love Exene) Even the folks who don't like American/roots/punk should be able to enjoy what a tight band they are though.
If they just listen to what DJ Bonebrake,John Doe, and Billy Zoom are doing they would be amazed.
Like how it's a punk rock variation of DJ Fontanta.
Doe's voice should be sealed in one of those NASA time capsules and blasted into space for the entire universe to hear what life is like here on Earth, in all its glory and heartbreak.
With fellow vocalist Exene Cervenka and snare master DJBonebrake (John's compadres from X) and stand-up bass player Jonny Ray Bartel taking the stage, the Knitters raised the roof for two hours of hootenanny hillbilly heaven.
They tore through old classics ("Wreckin' Ball," "Poor Little Critter on the Road"), gave new life to Knittified versions of X songs like "Burning House of Love" and "In This House That I Call Home," and played several tracks from their new, second CD, The Modern Sounds of The Knitters.
After a 20 year recording hiatus, John Doe, Exene Cervenka, and DJBonebrake, all of the legendary punk band X, have joined forces with The Blasters` Dave Alvin to release their first album since `Poor Little Critter on the Road,` their 1985 debut.
You could call the album heavy-metal rockabilly without being too far off the mark.
The jarring, mournful harmonies of Doe and Cervenka still cut to the bone, while D.J. Bonebrake`s subtle but forceful drumming, mostly brushes on the tom-toms, pushes every song to the desperate edge that X explored so well."-PheonixNewTimes.

Between his obligations in X and their countrified offspring The Knitters, drummerDJBonebrake has put together two side projects that allow him to stretch out a bit and show a side that is a departure from the stylings of these bands.
They have made a commitment to work around whatever obstacles may arise and set up a number of live performances.

Fortunately, rather than continue to focus on the boys from Forest Hills, Queens, they've lined up seminal L.A. punk band X in their sights.
And just to make sure the job gets done right, they've enlisted X's own Billy Zoom (guitar) and DJBonebrake (drums) to help out.
"The Unheard Music" features DJBonebrake on vibes, "Beyond and Back" has more hip-swing to it than the original, and guess what '60s dance style (complete with honkin' sax) "Year One Twist!" is done in?
Veteran cowpunk drum-god DJBonebrake (X, Superstring) has enlisted the cream of the crop for his new band, including brilliant guitar wrangler TK Smith (Big Sandy, Smith Ranch Boys), Jeremy Wakefield (Lucky Stars, Dave Stuckey, Smith Ranch Boys), and Wally Hersom (Big Sandy, Lucky Stars).

The Vice Principals, DJ Ben Vendetta at Bigfoot Lounge
A side band from some of the most prolific songwriters and musicians in America.
Exene, John Doe, Dave Alvin, Jonny Ray Bartel, and DJBonebrake decided to put down all the pretense and pressure of their day jobs (X, the Blasters, the Red Devils) and just have some fun playing music.
They started by doing some benefit shows around town and had so much fun playing that they did some touring in the 80s and early 90s (in between touring with their respective bands, acting, movie sound tracks, recording with Johnny Cash and Mick Jagger).
