DJ Food: Kaleidoscope: Pitchfork Record Review
DJ Food's Kaleidoscope breaks the mold of previous Ninja Tune releases in that it's immediately accessible, yet not at the expense of musical acumen.
When Coldcut and DJ Food were slated to appear at the same venue on the same night, conflicts arose and the founding members decided to pass on the torch-- much as Augustus Busch passed on the noble brewing tradition of the Anheuser-Busch alcohol empire so many years ago to his son, Augustus Busch II.
Shrewdly circumnavigating the potholes left by DJ failures of years passed, DJ Food know to place equal emphasis on both beat and samples, formulating musical schemes which seem to evolve naturally, and regulating a delicate balance of groove and soothe throughout.

DJ Food - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The later DJ Food albums have developed with shades of Latin, dub, techno, ambient, and Jungle flavouring the funk.
With a seemingly single DJ name, it is often wrongly assumed that DJ Food is single person.
In fact, a whole host of DJs, producers and musicians have performed under the name, so the evolutionary nature of the DJ Food sound comes as no surprise.

DJ Food - Biography - AOL Music
DJ Food is a collaborative project between Coldcut/Ninja Tune duo Matt Black and Jonathan More, and second-half PC (born Patrick Carpenter) and Strictly (Kevin Foakes).
Adding PC and Strictly to spice things up (and differentiate DJ Food from Coldcut when they played the same bill), the quartet released a series of 12" singles in various combinations starting in 1994 (including "Freedom"/"Consciousness"), with their proper debut full-length, A Recipe for Disaster, appearing the following year.
More and Black continued to split their time between DJ Food and Coldcut, as well as the day-to-day operation of their immensely popular Ninja Tune and Ntone labels.

Some Assembly Required: July 16, 2006: DJ Food
I believe I was aware of the project (DJ Food) prior to last year, when the original version of "Raiding the 20th Century" arrived in my mailbox; however, I had yet to focus very closely.
I wrote DJ Food (Strictly Kev) a couple of months later, to see about an interview, and by coincidence, discovered that he was just about to begin work on a revamped version of the project.
There are several DJ Food records, including six of the Food For DJs series (which eventually transcended its original function, as a simple collection of samples, loops and breaks for DJs to mix with) and a best-of collection of remixed tracks from this series was compiled in 1996.

DJ Food has become an identity that grows independently of its individual members.
It turns out Moore and Black (aka Coldcut) tired of the DJ Food moniker and generously passed it in to Foakes and Carpenter (who had at least contributed to the "RoD" album), who - presumably chuffed at appropriating such a mark of quality - tossed off a bunch of experimental jazz-slash-dance tracks.
I do give DJ food credit for creating very avante guard music as I would give an artist credit for being the first to think of putting a yellow dot on a green canvas - but I don't have to like it.

Whilst keeping their hand in as DJs, Matt and Jon couldn't and didn't want to DJ twice in one night under both aliases of Coldcut and Food so PC and Strictly stepped up to represent the Food club-wise.
