DMU 63A was the best unit with 225 dead deer, of which 65, or 29 percent, were bucks.
DMU 65B, again in the central area, came in fifth with a total of 127 deer, and antlered animals were 23 percent of that total.
DMU 14 came in with 110 whitetails and 35, or 32 percent, were antlered.

DMUs (diesel multiple units) — both FRA- (Federal Railroad Administration) compliant and non-compliant — are emerging as niche players that eventually could have significant impact on the regional rail market.
The TTA is in the final stages of a procurement of 12 bi-directional married pairs of FRA-compliant DMUs for a 28-mile line that's expected to begin revenue service in mid-2008.
The DMU will be powered by two turbocharged, intercooled six-cylinder diesel engines connected to a five-speed automatic transmission with integrated torque converter and retarder.

While the LRV and the lightweight DMU have evolved from vastly different backgrounds, the only major difference between the latest models of the two modes is that LRVs employ electric motors powered through pantographs, and lightweight DMUs use bus-style diesel engines and transmissions.
Lightweight DMUs are being considered in a number of cities in existing corridors where the cost of electrification may not be justified.
If the DMU option is selected, the line could be electrified in the future as part of a series of incremental improvements to the line as ridership builds.

DMU Railcars at the Dean Forest Railway
DMU stands for Diesel Multiple Unit, which is basically a self powered railway carriage or a number of carriages, ie: ‘multiple’.
DMUs were first introduced in 1954 just before the British Rail Modernisation Plan in 1955 which quickly led to large numbers of DMUs being built by B.R. Workshops and outside commercial builders.
The Dean Forest DMU Group was formed to purchase vehicle numbers E50619 and M56492, which arrived at the Dean Forest Railway on the 20th April 1992.

DMUs found to be inefficient are strictly inefficient in a Pareto sense in that at least one other DMU can produce outputs for less input.
A DEA score of 0 would mean that a DMU is maximally inefficient in comparison to all the other DMUs being compared, while a score of 1.00 would mean that a DMU is 100 percent, relatively efficient by comparison.
The reference set represents the other DMUs that constitute "best practices" and to which the relatively inefficient DMU is being compared.

In order to give a reasonable balance of efficient and non-efficient DMUs from DEA, Charnes and Cooper (1991) have suggested, as a rule of thumb, that there should be three times as many DMUs as the number of inputs plus outputs.
Although Smith and Maynard claim that the count is "an important supplementary measure in assessing the robustness" of simple efficiency, there are a number of factors that limit the usefulness of the count as a stand-alone statistic.
Under stochastic assumptions those DMUs that were labelled non-efficient should perhaps more accurately be described as efficient with a certain probability under certain conditions.

The Michigan Sportsman Forums - Antlerless DMU question
The DNR expanded DMUs to county units in the northern Lower Peninsula, with the exception of some smaller, quality DMUs with special buck harvest regulations.
The UP was divided into 13 larger DMUs (and four smaller quality deer management units) because so few people hunt there that smaller management units aren't practical (only about 15 percent of the state's 722,000 deer hunters are in the UP).
That was because the state had much more control over hunter access to the vast areas of public land in the northern parts of the state (southern Michigan is more than 95 percent private land), and the DNR used that control in an effort to micro-manage the herd.

When these vehicles were scheduled for withdrawal a group of enthusiasts set up the 'Swindon Preservation Group', which was significant as it was the first DMU group to be established with the aim of preserving a set.
This was also significant as they were the first DMU vehicles to be preserved on historical merit - all earlier ones were bought as cheap and convenient, and often disposable, vehicles for low season use.

 Light Rail Terminology
DMU is a relatively recent evolution of the old term 'MU'.
The old term was exclusively used for self-propelled electric cars that could run in trains of two or more cars with just one motorman.
After the evolution, DMU and EMU were used to refer respectively to diesel or electric cars.
