  IcarusWeb - Linguica Interview.
It was then that I sort of realized that Dukrous and I were in charge of a site which at the time was one of the hubs of the Doom community.
I know, making a Doom WAD doesn't have much to do with webpage design, but if a person has the aesthetic sense and technical knowledge to make a decent webpage, it leads me to believe that their project will have the same standards.
I respect the coders who are actively improving the Doom codebase and adding new features, especially Julian for RorDoom which was done with no expectations or fanfare, and the maker of JHexen for creating what I think will be the best GL Doom-engine renderer.

Doom also started the multiplayer online craze and is almost single-handedly responsible for coining the term "deathmatch." Playing a multiplayer game of Doom with your buddies or even anonymous folks from all over the country was relatively simple.
Doom was popular for a lot of reasons aside from the multiplayer games; one being that the level design was pure genius.
Doom gave way to Doom II and then to Quake, which was followed by Quake II and the pure deathmatch game, Quake III.

I love the site, and miss the times when I was the news bitch, but let’s be frank, Doom is a dying community, the game is 13 years old and most of the hardcore oldschool doomers are grown and have responsibilities in their own life that don’t allow for Dooming anymore.
There is still a community of people that was formed around the site and the game itself, but even those people that are still members of that community have generally moved on from the game itself, not the community.
Doom will always have a special place in my heart, along with all the time I spent as the newsie on DW, but I’m just saying that this will be there year that Doomworld as we know it is done.

Doom 3 does a great job at putting out a strong “you are alone” feeling while wandering through darkened corridors getting jumped by demons at every turn, but to help add a pinch of believability to the game, id Software has chose to include a handy-dandy PDA for the player to use.
Doom 3 has some very intense hardware demands, as is par for the course of id’s average new title.
