		Following Professor Turner's sudden death in August 1999, Professor Rury Holman (Head of the Diabetes Trials Unit) has been appointed as Acting Head of the DRL until such time as new appointment can be made.

	Human Rights

	Daytime Running Lights: The Studies
		DRL use was estimated to be about 30-35 percent in 1980-81, 60-65 percent in 1984-85, and 90-95 percent in 1989-90, so, as in the earlier Scandinavian studies, only partial implementation of DRLs was assessed.
		Some DRL critics have attempted to undermine the unequivical results of international studies on the grounds that driving conditions in Scandinavian countries are not comparable to North American driving conditions.
		The effect of DRLs on motorcycle crashes has been studied in Denmark and Norway, where daytime lights were required for motorcyclists prior to the DRL law for passenger vehicles.

	DADRL - Howto Disable DRLs
		The Jeep TJ (mine is a 2003 Sahara) uses a motion sensor to send a signal to the DRL module to tell it the Jeep is moving and to activate the daytime running lights.
		The DRL relay pack is located on the left front inner fender panel and is held in by two plastic clips that are bent back to allow easy removal of the holder.
		Unplug the connector and your DRLs are disabled.

	Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
		I applied the CIE recommendations to some work I carried out on flashing lights on school buses with Dr Alec Fisher and realised that low beam headlights (maximum luminous intensity 437cd in direction of oncoming motorists) could only be expected to be marginally effective during all but very dull days.
		Bright DRLs (up to 1200cd, as recommended by CIE) would be effective under all daylight conditions and so were better suited to Australia.

		The image at above left, is a view of the rear of the DRL control module while looking over the driver's side (left front tire) towards the front of the the vehicle.
		If your Explorer has the DRL harness/connector with no DRL control module connected (some later year model Explorers may not come with the harness in the vehicle at all) it will have an oval shaped jumper cap in place and the connector with jumper cap will be attached to the sheet metal.
		Test the DRL system operation, start the engine or put the ignition switch in the "Run" position then release the parking brake, the headlight highbeams will turn on at reduce output (about 75%), apply the parking brake they should turn off.

	Daytime Running Lights for Ford F150 Trucks There seems to be a lot of confusion about Daytime Running Lights (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-24)
		In trucks that do not have DRL a loop-back plug is in place of the Relay Block which provides ground to the Multifunction Switch (Steering Column High/Low/Flash to Pass switch) so the normal low and high beam lights still work.
		On American trucks without DRL, the wiring harness is the same but they simply replace the DRL Relay Block with a loop-back plug and put a cap on the wiring harness where the DRL Resistor plugs in.
		The DRL Resistor (or where it's supposed to be) is located in the front of the truck.

	SS #670 Mods: Disable DRLs
		The DRL module (or whatever it's called -- it does a lot more than just manage the DRLs) is in the center console behind the radio.
		To disable the DRL module, solder a small wire between the A and B conductors of connector C2 on the back of the DRL module PC board.
		Buggering the ebrake switch is the same as leaving the emergency brake on the last notch.

	HID with DRL question ...
		I understand that in Canada, HID's wont work in conjuction with DRL's because of the flickering and that some of the options are either to use the fogs as DRL, or bypass the DRL and have the HID's on all the time.
		With XenonExperts guide to solving the flickering, my guess is that it is a bypass of the DRL and leaves the HID's on even in DRL mode (since the ballasts need 12v input, which means the HIDs are on all the time).
		As for me charging for a DRL bypass guide well I was the only one with some Mazda techs that did find a way.

		In an effort to keeping things simple I opted to manually control when the DRL's are on and off by using a simple toggle switch.
