This trial, set at the Woomera airfield, is a shakedown mission for the DSTO Automation of the Battlespace Initiative with the primary objective of the trial being to geo-locate ground targets using video imagery and attitude information from the Aerosonde.
Tuesday June 8 : The morning was spent with DSTO scientists performing acoustic testing on a ground-based Aerosonde with the aim of determining the position of the noise source.
DSTO is evaluating remotely controlled UAVs for their potential to provide electronic warfare, radar jamming, surveillance and intelligence gathering capabilities for the Australian Defence Force.

Promote the cooperative role between the RAAF, DSTO, USAF and NGRAC in the operational and scientific aspects of the Global Hawk project by ensuring that all information is coming from a single source.

RFEL will provide DSTO with two filter designs, each based on frequency domain filtering techniques using the polyphase DFT.

The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) yesterday inked a five year strategic research and development allliance agreement with BAE Systems Australia.
The agreement extends and upgrades a previous three year industry alliance arrangement between the two organizations and will focus on electronic warfare, autonomous systems, high frequency surveillance, air defence, air platforms, mission simulation training and intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance mission support.
BAE Systems Australia has traded with the DSTO for 12 years which involved testing and support for Hawk fighters planes, support for its anti-ship missile system and the advanced short range air to air missile project.
