DVTS or the Digital Video Transport System is software used to send and receive DV based video and audio streams across computer networks.
Basically DVTS takes the raw DV video and audio data from a firewire connected camera, wraps this data in the necessary networking protocol information for transmission across a network, and then sends it to the designated computer.
On the other end of the signal DVTS takes the networking data packets, strips away the networking information, and sends the reassembled raw DV based video and audio data to the firewire port on your computer.

DVTs and all that [April 2003; 110-2]
DVT diagnoses had to be confirmed by clinical tests (like a scan) or a satisfactory validation study of the accuracy of the diagnosis performed.
For the purposes of the review, DVT cases had to be new and not to be recurrent, combined with pulmonary embolism, and due to any cause.
The causes of DVT were attributed to cancer or previous hospital admission, for about a quarter to a third of cases for each cause.

DVT of the calf may cause symptoms in the calf while that in the thigh can cause symptoms in both the thigh and/or calf.
DVT occurring in deep knee or thigh veins, known as proximal DVT, require hospitalization and anticoagulation because of increased risk of pulmonary embolus.
DVTs of the knee, thigh and groin (proximal DVTs) are initially treated with intravenous heparin for the first 5 to 10 days in conjunction with coumadin (taken be mouth).

The best way to find a DVT is through a venogram, but it's invasive, uses dye that can cause an allergic reaction and has to be done in the X-ray area of a hospital.
Generally, DVTs and pulmonary embolism are treated with blood thinners, said Dr. Craig Wilkinson, vascular surgeon at St. Mark's Hospital.
So when younger patients have the filter put in and there's a chance to remove it safely when the risks from the DVT have been dealt with, most experts are choosing to remove the filter.

The reason for this is that a piece of the clot in DVT may break off and travel through the deep veins back to the heart, and eventually be pumped by the heart into the arteries of the lung.
DVTs can occur anywhere in the body but are most frequently found in the deep veins of the legs, thighs, and pelvis.
DVT is a common condition that affects almost 2 million Americans each year.

Every year, DVT occurs in about 1 in 1000 people in the general population: ranging from 1 in several thousand people under the age of 20 years, up to 1 in 100 in those aged over 80 years.
If a DVT is associated with a journey, you might experience these symptoms during the journey but more commonly they develop hours or even days later.
This is a long-term complication of DVT and is caused by increased pressure in the deep veins due to valvular incompetance.

Among children with cancer who suffer this side effect, DVTs kill 4 per cent and 10 to 12 per cent suffer post-phlebitic syndrome, or long-term tissue damage.
Part of the problem is that the symptoms of the DVT may not develop for several months, by which time substantial damage is done.

As DVTS transmits the DV data over the IP without any compression, the quality is very good and the delay brief, which is very important for interactivity.
Also, DVTS can adjust the bandwidth usage based on the network condition from 40Mbps down to 10Mbps, which is important for all applications running on the Internet where the fixed bandwidth cannot be guaranteed.
When DVTS reduces the transmitting data, it only reduces the video packets; audio quality can be preserved, which is also very important for lengthy lectures.

What Is Venous Thrombosis?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, is a blood clot in the veins of the body.
DVTs usually occur in the legs, particularly in the groin, calves, or behind the knee.
A PE can occur if fragments of a DVT (or the entire clot itself) loosen from the vein of the leg and travel (or “embolize”) to the lungs, where they lodge in one or more of the major veins that carry blood from the lungs to the heart.

However, even in the absence of DVTs in the legs, most of the participants had elevated scores on the two D-dimer tests indicative, by the test scoring standards, of possible blood clotting.
