		DAANBANTAYAN, Cebu officials and barangay captains formally broke away from the group of Rep. Clavel Asas-Martinez, whose family has been their political boss for years now, with a challenge to the congresswoman to account for her discretionary funds.
		Daanbantayan officials want Gwendolyn, not Agriculture Undersecretary Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr., the congresswoman’s husband, to be the Lakas standard-bearer in the province.
		Aside from the measly aid Daanbantayan received, Loot said they were also disappointed with the little help they received from the Martinezes in developing Malapascua Island as a tourist destination and in resolving a dispute with Medellin over a traffic ordinance.

	Six killed as ship sinks off central Philippines
		At least six people were killed when an inter-island shipping firm's service boat collided with a fishing vessel and sank off Cebu province in the central Philippines on Saturday, a coast guard official said in Manila.
