Dabie Shan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Geochronological data are presented that constrain the age of the UHP metamorphism, the ages of protoliths, and potentially the age of hydrothermal alteration believed to be responsible for the anomalous oxygen isotopic compositions.
The age of UHP metamorphism in the eastern Dabie Shan is dated at 218.5+ or -1.7 Ma using U/Pb in zircon separated from host gneisses.
This age is identical within uncertainty with a less precise age using U/Pb in zircon separated from UHP eclogite (225.5+3/-6 Ma) and with previously published ages from UHP eclogites of the Dabie Shan.

 Geochronology of Dabie UHP Rocks
The Dabie Shan are bounded by the Tan-Lu fault to the east, the Shang-Ma fault to the west, and the Xiaotian-Mozitiang fault to the north (Figs.
To the west is the Hong'an area, which shows a regular progression of increasing metamorphic grade from greenschist facies in the south to coesite eclogite in the north (Fig.
The Dabie Shan show a less regular progression complicated by the presence of a northern magmatic complex consisting of ortho (granitic or tonalitic)- and para (biotite)-gneisses.

 Background of The Altwasser Family
Karl (Karol) Altwasser was born November 4, 1820 Czepow Dolney, Poland and died on March 15, 1855 in Ladowy, Dabie, Poznan, Poland.
In the area immediately around Dabie, the village of Chwalborskie Holendry was founded by Germans in 1770 and the villages north of Dabie such as Grabina Wielki, Sabotka and Dembinie were founded by Germans between 1779 and 1782.
An evangelical congregation was formed in Dabie in 1806, and it was this church that served as the religious center for German Lutherans and in the surrounding area.

Dabie Shan, China   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
However, the low-temperature history of this range is very different story, and much of the present topography reflects much younger events such as mid-Cretaceous plutonism, and, as these He ages show, a previously unknown erosional/exhumational event in the mid-Tertiary that may be related to a far-field effect of Asian-Indian collision.
Zircon He ages (Tc~200° C) are generally concordant with the lowest-T age-tails of K-spar Ar cooling models from the area, and reflect heating of the area during mid- to late-Cretaceous plutonism (northern orthogneiss unit and associated plutons).

SUB Göttingen - Dissertationen - Xiao Yilin: Fluid Histories During HP and UHP Metamorphism in Dabie Shan, China: ...
Tectonically, the Dabie Shan could be subdivided into four metamorphic units: the North Huaiyuang metamorphic belt, the North Dabie Complex (NDC), the South Dabie UHP Terrain (SDT), and the Susong metamorphic belt.
By contrast, the fluid phase of the rocks from the NDC was dominated by CO2-rich fluids, corresponding to granulite-facies.
The low water-activity during UHP metamorphism indicates that free-fluid phase is not ubiquitous; however, a free-fluid is present within a grain scale as evidenced from fluid inclusions.

APATITE (U-TH)/HE CONSTRAINTS ON THE CENOZOIC THERMAL HISTORY OF THE DABIE SHAN, EASTERN CHINA   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The Dabie Shan lies at the eastern end of the ~2000km WNW-ENE trending Qinling-Dabie orogen that marks the collisional suture between the Yangtze and North China cratons (Hacker et al., 1996).
New apatite (U-Th)/He ages from the eastern Dabie Shan record the late Cretaceous to Cenozoic thermal history of the range and offer insight into the timing and degree of normal displacement of the southern Tan-Lu fault.
Apatite fission track and (U-Th)/He cooling ages decrease towards the south (Grimmer et al., 2002) and west (Reiners et al., 2003) in the Dabie Shan, suggesting differential uplift across the range that may not necessarily be related to the Tan-Lu fault.
