DADU, Nov 13: Zakat funds of Rs190 million, lying in banks since January, were not distributed among 20,000 registered deserving people in the district before Eidul Fitr due to apathy of the local Zakat officials.
They regretted that the chairman of the Dadu District Zakat Committee had not nominated chairmen of committees of 441 dehs and members of taluka and district committees, hence, thousands of poor people had been deprived of subsistence allowance and students of scholarships.
Dadu Taluka Nazim Syed Zafar Ali Shah, district secondary education officer Syed Rasool Bux Shah, Syed Bachal Shah and Imam Ali Shah participated in the jirga from the complainant side and MNA Jamali and local Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union chairman Warial Mirani represented the Hesco officials.

According to Jamshoro district administration sources, initially it was decided that Jamshoro would acquire 34.5 per cent of assets as well as liabilities of the former Dadu district.
Jamshoro District Officer (Finance and Planning) Muhammad Siddique Burero told The News that on Dec 14, 2004, the Dadu district administration had Rs 365 million in its account and after the meeting, the Jamshoro district was supposed to receive Rs 120 million from that amount.
However, talking to this correspondent, Dadu DCO Aijaz Mangi said: “There is no outstanding amount of the Jamshoro district with the Dadu district.” He was of the view that matter had been taken up at the Sindh Finance Department, which would decide about it.

DADU, July 14: The Dadu District Council approved its budget of Rs2241.949 million for 2004-2005 at a session held on Wednesday.
He said Rs2.5 million each would be provided to union council nazims and Rs300,000 each to woman councillors, those elected on reserved seats and minority members for carrying out development schemes in their respective areas.
He disclosed that a beautification plan had been prepared for Dadu, which included shifting of the old vegetable market and construction of a new bus terminal and three town entrance gates.

Manchhar, Pakistan's largest fresh water natural lake, is located in district Dadu, about 300 kilometres north-west of Karachi in the Kirthar valley.
The MNV drain, charged with rain water drawn from the nearby Kirthar hill torrents, was once a source of fresh water for the lake.
