Daffy Duck is an animated cartoon character in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons.
Daffy was the first of the new breed of "screwball" characters that emerged in the 1930s and supplanted traditional "everyman" characters, such as Mickey Mouse, in popularity in the 1940s.
Daffy, as Duck Dodgers, faces off against Marvin the Martian in the 1953 short Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century.

Daffy Duck cartoons were a staple on television packages of Looney Tunes cartoons since the 1960 when the Bugs Bunny show first appeared on television.
The second came in 1988, called "Daffy Duck's Quackbusters." This is considered one of the best of the looney compilation movies, using "Daffy Dilly" and the previous years' theatrical shorts "The Duxorcist" and "Night Of the Living Duck" as the major plotline cartoons.

"Daffy Duck Hunt" takes first place on my list of all-time favorite Looney Tunes, with "Napoleon Bunny-Part" (Bugs Bunny) and "Guided Muscle" (The Road Runner) tied for second place and "Bewitched Bunny" (Bugs Bunny and Witch Hazel) getting third.
One day, I raced my sister home from school so I could get to the TV before she could (you have to remember that in 1973 - at least not for the next seven years - there weren't any such things as VCRs); when I beat her home, my sister left the house in frustration.
All told, "Daffy Duck Hunt" certainly was worthy of a "Blue Ribbon" shown in the opening titles - too bad it didn't win an Oscar as well.
