Dagmara Dominczyk - Biography - Moviefone
The daughter of a Polish Solidarity movement leader who was jailed for over a year due to his promotion of social and political freedom, screen beauty Dagmara Dominczyk was primed early in life for the themes of film that would provide the stunning actress with her big-screen breakthrough, The Count of Monte Cristo (2002).
Devoting his life to the cause of freedom after his own father met an untimely demise at the hands of communists, Dagmara's father and her family were exiled to New York following her father's release, when the future actress was a mere seven years old.
Opting to focus on more thought-provoking films rather than cotton-candy cut-and-paste comedies, Dominczyk hopes to one day utilize her fame to return to Poland and give back to the community and support system that helped her family to survive in their darkest years.

 Welcome to UNIVERCITY.com
Dominczyk (pronounced Da-min-chik), whose previous work was limited to an understudy role on Broadway and small film roles, was cast by Monte Cristo director Kevin Reynolds based on the strength and confidence of her audition, backed by her eight years of actor training in high school and college.
Dominczyk says in her first few years in the U.S., she was self-conscious about not speaking the language, about having an accent, and about “not knowing anything.” So she would write little plays and scripts to act out by herself in English so she could become used to speaking the language.
Dagmara says she loved high school because she was meeting kids from all over the city and getting beyond her “isolated home environment.” At the same time, Dagmara started spending summers with her grandmother in the small town of Wielce, Poland, and seeing the disparity between growing up in the two countries.

Starring Jim Caviezel, Guy Pearce, Henry Cavill, Dagmara Dominczyk, James Frain, Richard Harris, Michael Wincott, Luis Guzman, Albie Woodington, Alex Norton
But talented actor and good sport that he is, Pearce runs with this characterization, embodying Fernand's egomaniacal sense of superiority with supercilious sniffs and odious stares as he flagrantly cheats on his beautiful wife (Dagmara Dominczyk) who had once been Edmond's fiancée.
Reynolds does a poor job of establishing in early scenes that young Edmond is an uneducated, lower-caste man who might -- even after being set up as a traitor to France -- willingly climb into a paddy wagon when he's told it's a carriage that will take him home.
