Berkowitz was one of the serial killers whose murders were recreated by the killer in the movie Copycat (1995).

Scott Mitchell Putesky, born April 28, 1968 is an American musician more famously known as Daisy Berkowitz and was the lead guitarist and co-founder of rock group Marilyn Manson until he left the band in 1996, during the recording of Antichrist Superstar.
Scott's first instruments were the flute and the snare drum, and in 6th grade joined the school's chorus, for which he apparently had a talent.
Abandoning the Daisy Berkowitz name in favor of his own initials, SMP joined up with longtime Marilyn Manson collaborators Jack Off Jill, replacing departing member Ho Ho Spade and playing live guitar on their 1997 West Coast tour.

His name is made up of Daisy Duke, of the Duke of Hazzard TV series and David Berkowitz, the "Son of Sam" killer, also known as Mr.44 or Mister Monster.
Daisy was the lead guitar for Marilyn Manson before he was replaced by Zim Zum.

Daisy Berkowitz annouced his resignation from the band in May of 1996.
As for Daisy Berkowitz, the split between him and MM seems to be mostly due to creative differences in regards to the direction of "Antichrist Superstar".
Daisy stated in his "Guitar School" interview that he had played in four or five bands prior to joining Manson, "only a couple of which did club dates." The only one whose name is known, a duo called India Loves you (with Cindy Deats), was described as "psychedelic folk combined with Sonic Youth's noise".

Billboard.com is reporting that Marilyn Manson and bandmate Madonna Wayne Gacy have filed suit against former guitarist Daisy Berkowitz and a Florida record label over the release of "Lunch Boxes & Choklit Cows", an album of 1993 material cut by Manson's early band THE SPOOKY KIDS.
The suit, which claims damages of at least $500,000, and seeks punitive damages to be determined, alleges that the album and accompanying DVD make unauthorized use of illustrations from Manson's book "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell" and the musicians' likenesses.
Richard Wolfe, attorney for Putesky and Empirewerks Records, called the suit "ill-conceived," and said the proper venue for the matter is Broward County (Fla.) Circuit Court, where matters pertaining to the settlement agreement were heard.

They made their first cassettes, Meat Beat Cleaver Beat, Snuffy's VCR, and Big Black Bus which were, according to Daisy "weird instrumental stuff that we never sold." These apparently featured only Manson and Berkowitz.
