M.B.Emeneau Centenary International Conference on South Asian Linguistics is titled "Urdu, Dakkhini Urdu Vis-À-Vis Emeneau's Concept Of 'India As A Linguistic Area'" and it focuses on Dakkhini Urdu, a crucial variant of Urdu, which is considered to be the earliest antecedent of today's Hindi and Urdu.
