Daktaklakpak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Precursors prevented the Daktaklakpak from developing sufficient sentience which, combined with their own amatuerish self modification, caused the Daktaklakpak to have an initially indecipherable language.
When the Daktaklakpak met the Ploxis (who were engaged in a civil war), they traded a Precursor vessel for several valuable artefacts.
Of course, considering that, due to Precursor fail-safes, the entry of the Eternal Ones name into a Daktaklakpak causes their cybernetic brains to self destruct, the value of the latter option is questionable.

He was sold to a man named Daktaklakpak in a village within the land now claimed by Thane Thon of the Bonechewer Nation.
Daktaklakpak was absolute ruler over the village, and he brought Morag up to be his eyes and ears, owing to the boys uncommon swiftness of foot.

Races of the Star Control III Universe
By Daktaklakpak calculations, 99.999872% of their population was slaughtered in quelling the insurgency (roughly equating half a million Ploxis; they must not have been very numerous beforehand, either).
Marshalling their K'tang and Daktaklakpak forces, the Crux conquered their home quadrant (if any other races were there besides the Doog, they were not admitted to the Crux), and then journeyed forth into the Kessari Quadrant, where, thanks to the machinations of the Ploxis, added the Harika, Yorn, and Clairconctlar to their ranks.
The Daktaklakpak, having scanned the colonial bacteria with a sentience analyzer, declared that this was not a sentient race, and certainly not Precursor derived.

The Pages of Now & Forever - All About Star Control
When the Precursors devolved themselves at the end of the previous galactic cycle, they left the Daktaklakpak to tend their technology caches, monitor the coming of the Eternal Ones, and "un-devolve" an occasional Precursor to evaluate the ever-changing state of the galaxy.
The Ploxis continued to direct the actions of the unimaginative Daktaklakpak, who found the Ploxis's ruthlessness useful in their quest for Precursor caches.
While the Vivisector's mines are an annoyance, when defending against the Daktaklakpak, ensure that you are not latched onto by the Vivisector's drill; by maintaining less than a ninety degree angle with the Vivisector's drill it is possible to prevent the vessel from employing its drill against your hull.

He was bought from the owners of the inn by slave traders, and taken in a wagon to the west.
Finally Daktaklakpak revealed to Morag that he was a deity, a deity of logic and order.
Morag did not believe at first, but Daktaklakpak proved it by rising from the dead, and other feats of power.

 GURPS Star Control: The Races
The Daktaklakpak were originally janitorial bots for the Precursors; this is why they they have detachable maniplators.
The Daktaklakpak were supposed to watch over the Precursors' artifacts while they were gone from the galaxy; they now think that they are the Precursors' chosen, and thus the most intelligent, most superior race in the universe.
The name "Daktaklakpak" is the beginning of the mathematical expression that defines the construction and maintenance of the Daktaklakpak.

For instance, the Spathi Eluder has a weak front gun and a Backwards Utilized Tracking Torpedo (Or B.U.T.T.) allowing them a great escape maneuver and almost no head to head offense.
Meanwhile, the Daktaklakpak can grab onto the opponent or drop space mines, requiring a very mobile offense.

The combat aspect of the game can be played separately from the adventure game, or as a part of it.
When confronted by a Daktaklakpak during the course of the game (an annoyingly common occurence), you are quickly thrown into combat.

The ships are now pre-rendered, light-sourced beauties, what hulls glistening with the fraught explosions of combat.
There are ten or so new ships - from the Kessari fleet - with odd characteristics, among others the phase-shifting LK Sanctorum, and the deadly Daktaklakpak Vivisector, which has annoying homing proximity bottom missiles.
The Melee can now also be played at two angles - above or on a weird 3d isometric plane - and over a network or modem.
