Dale Allan Gardner (Born November 8, 1948 in Fairmont, Minnesota) is a former NASA Astronaut who flew two missions for NASA in the early 1980s.
Gardner was selected as an Astronaut Candidate by NASA in January 1978, reporting to the Johnson Space Center in July 1978.
Gardner's next assignment was with the first operational F-14 squadron (VF-1) at Naval Air Station Miramar, San Diego, California, from where he flew the TOMCAT and participated in two Western Pacific and Indian Ocean cruises while deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.

Gardner made his second flight in 1984 aboard Mission 51-A. Gardner performed 12 hours of spacewalks during the first salvage mission in space history.
