The opening dialogue between the Doctor and the Dalek is a major reference to the third Doctor serial Death to the Daleks.
The point-of-view angle of the Dalek approaching Rose and backing her up against the sealed bulkhead is reminiscent of the cliffhanger to episode one of The Daleks, where a Dalek backs Barbara up against a wall of the Dalek City on Skaro.

William Hartnell does not appear in the fourth episode (apart from in the film insert reprise from the third) as he was absent during the week in which it was recorded; this was due to him sustaining a bruised back in an on-set accident during camera rehearsal of the previous week's episode.
The title of the first episode is a pun, referring both to the devastation of the Earth by the Daleks and to the fact that the TARDIS arrives in an area of London known as World's End, in Chelsea.

The only Dalek story to be produced during the Colin Baker years, Revelation doesn’t quite rise to the level of classic Dalek episodes from the past (like Genesis of the Daleks, with Tom Baker), but Who fans will still find much excitement and intrigue to enjoy here.
If you are a Doctor Who devotee, there are some niggling continuity problems to worry about in terms of the Dalek history that had been established over the preceding 11 or so years, but Nation has indeed done a great job in reinventing his malevolent creatures without too much disruption to their past storyline.
The Dalek stories that remain on the shelves are perhaps the least interesting from their canon, but if the folks at BBC Video can pull together the same quality of extras that they have for these two releases, they will be worth waiting for.
