Dalhousie College was founded in 1818 by George Ramsay, 9th Earl of Dalhousie, the Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia.
Dalhousie expanded its presence in south-end Halifax during the 1960s and 1970s when it built the Dalplex athletic facility, the Killam Library, the Life Sciences Centre, and a district heating plant, all on what is referred to as the Studley Campus (the main campus).
Dalhousie's campus newspaper, the Dalhousie Gazette, was founded in 1868, making it the oldest student newspaper in Canada and one of the oldest continuously-running student newspapers in North America.

Sir John Ramsay of Dalhousie (1580-1626), James VI.s favorite, is famous for rescuing the king in the Gowrie conspiracy, and was created (1606) Viscount Haddington and Lord Ramsay of Barns (subsequently baron of Kingston and earl of Holderness in England).
Dalhousie assumed charge of his dual duties as governorgeneral of India and governor of Bengal on the 12th of January 1848, and shortly afterwards he was honored with the green ribbon of the Order of the Thistle.

The Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) is the official representative body of the students of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The Council is made up of forty Councillors including the members of the executive, student Senate and Board of Governors representatives (also elected in the General Elections), representatives from each faculty, representatives from the Black, Aboriginal and LGBTQ constituencies, and representatives from other parts of the University community.
The Dalhousie Student Union is a member of the Canadian Alliance of Students Associations and the Alliance of Nova Scotia Student Associations.

Of course, Dalhousie is not the only Scottish Castle with ‘themed’ rooms — I get the impression that most castles offering accommodation have done this to some extent.
My own feeling is that the majority (not all) reflect a romantically softened impression of Victorian or Georgian elegance that could be experienced in any country house rather than specifically a mediaeval castle (although most maintain a ‘mediaeval’ bar/restaurant in the dungeon!).
Dalhousie is near Bonnyrigg, which is around 7 miles (11 km) South-East from Edinburgh City Centre.
