Dalida (1933 - 1987) was an Egyptian/French singer.
Born Yolande Christina Gigliotti of Italian parents on January 17, 1933 in Shoudra[?], a district of Cairo, Egypt, she was the child of an opera violinist and was given singing lessons at an early age.
Dalida is buried in the Cimetière de Montmartre, Paris, France, her gilded life-size statue one of the most outstanding of the many sculpted works in the famous cemetery.

In 1955, Dalida released her first single; Madonna, which was a success only outdone by her second single; Bambino.
In 1962, Dalida was back on the charts with her new single Petit Gonzalez and in 1965 she released her song La danse de Zorba.
