One of their hideouts is preserved in Meade, KS, but the true lover of Dalton Gang lore takes a trip east, cross state, to Coffeyville, where two of the Dalton brothers (and two of their henchmen) were shot dead on October 5, 1892.
The place has a wall-size photo of the Dalton Gang's corpses, and visitors can walk across the actual threshold and through the actual vault doorway of the two banks that the gang robbed just before an irate citizenry blew their brains out.
Recognizing the value of a powerful icon, the Dalton Gang corpses image is reproduced again, this time as a life-size mural painted for the 100th anniversary onto the sidewalk outside one of the banks.

Raised on the border of Indian Territory near Coffeyville, Kansas, the Dalton brothers originally were on the side of the law.
Oldest brother Frank Dalton (June 8, 1859 - November 27, 1887) was a U. Deputy Marshal for the Federal Court of Fort Smith, Arkansas, but he was shot and killed in an ambush by the Smith-Dixon Gang.
Working as a deputy he received a bullet wound in the arm while attempting to arrest one suspect, and in 1889 he was commissioned a deputy marshal for the Muskogee court, but soon got bad reputation as a lawman.

 The Dalton Gang
On Nov. 27, 1887 in a gun battle with the with the Smith-Dixon Gang, Frank Dalton was shot and killed.
As it turned out the gang was correct in their suspicion, the first train was full of armed guards protecting $70,000 of the Sac and Fox annuity.
On July 14, 1892 the gang made its last train robbery at Adair I. Once again the train was loaded with deputies, but the gang was so quick and quite with their work that the marshals didn't realized the train was being rob until the job was almost completed.

Bob Dalton was serving with a posse in August 1888 when he shot and killed a fugitive who resisted arrest and opened fire, according to the Coffeyville Journal.
Bob Dalton, their leader, devised a plan to rob two banks at the same time in Coffeyville, a city of about 3,500 people where the Daltons had lived in the 1880s.
Emmett Dalton survived, and pleaded guilty in March 1893 to one count of second-degree murder in the killing of Cubine.
