		Damn the Torpedoes is an album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released in 1979 (see 1979 in music).
		Their old label, Shelter Records, had been sold to MCA; Petty struggled to legally detach himself from MCA, but in the end was forced to settle.
		Damn the Torpedoes ended up being the band's breakthrough hit, and includes many of their best reviewed songs and favorite concert standards today, including "Here Comes My Girl" and "A Shadow of Doubt (A Complex Kid)".

		"Damn the Torpedos" is a killer LP but it's nearly half a lifetime ago.
		IMHO, the last good thing that Petty did was "Let Me Up" back in '87, I think; After he got mixed up with the Wilburys, Petty started thinking that he was a genius and has turned out a lot of crap ever since.
		His first three albums - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, You're Gonna Get it, and Damn the Torpedos - are by far the best in his catalogue....3 great rock albums.

		I do have the vinyl record though… but its trapped under some stairs going to my basement, probably warped to death, hasn’t been played for over 20 years, and I don’t have a record player to play it..
