Dan came back to the locker room after the angle, and was summarily bitched out by Montoya and I. Apparently an agreement was made with Malcolm and the ICW boys ahead of time to run an angle after that match to set up an upcoming ICW show.
Dan Curtis is best known as the producer of the cult favorite TV serial Dark Shadows, which featured probably the second most famous vampire character in popular culture.
Curtis got this idea from his own Dark Shadows series, but prior to that, the "reincarnated love" idea was the central motif of the horror classic The Mummy in the 1930's, which probably picked it up in turn from H. Rider Haggard's classic novel She.

Curtis testified that at this meeting Dan told him and Smith that there was no way a union would get into his shop, that he would fire em- ployees active for the Union and would close his doors rather than deal with a union.

Dan Curtis' Dracula, Jack Palance, Dan Curtis Productions 1973
Curtis felt that this gave Dracula a stronger motivation for coming to England, as well as making him a more complex character: sympathetic as well as monstrous.
Anyway, as Curtis points out, the 90's film Bram Stoker's Dracula appropriated this same lost-love idea (as well as the emphasis on the historical Dracula and even the original title of this film, which clearly states "Bram Stoker's Dracula" in the opening credits).
Inevitably, as he is dispatched by the heroes, Dracula is transformed into a figure of pity, and the stately painting behind him, along with the martial music, suggests a warrior slain in battle rather than merely a monster who has been destroyed.

In August 1975, director Dan Curtis, who had brought Dark Shadows and many other tales of Gothic horror to television and the cinema, filmed Burnt Offerings from a script which Curtis co-wrote with frequent collaborator William F. Nolan (Logan’s Run).
Also, Curtis exchanges novelist Marasco’s more nebulous, abstract ending for a cinematic conclusion which is a cross between the climaxes of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960) and Curtis’s own Night of Dark Shadows (1971).
Dan Curtis’s film does not have the vampires of House of Dark Shadows or the ghost of Night of Dark Shadows, but it does have atmosphere because of its distinctive lighting and its low-angle camera shots.

In principle, Dan Curtis and his author Richard Matheson stick to the novel by Bram Stoker, leaving out some scenes and adding others.
Dan Curtis was the first one to bring in the historical model Vlad Tepes and 19 years later, Francis Ford Coppola was to follow his example when shooting "Bram Stokers Dracula".
This and the fact that to many fans of the genre this movie seemed to be too old-fashioned and not bloody enough made Dan Curtis "Dracula" sink into oblivion.

I found it somewhat ironic that in your CHRONOS review you mentioned how unlikely Gabriel Walker is, and that he needs some redeeming qualities-- Cameron Chase was actually conceived originally as a somewhat unlikeable person as well, but we softened her up pretty quickly.

Dan Curtis, of Dark Shadows fame, created "Dead of Night" in order to follow up on his immensely popular "Trilogy of Terror." Like "Trilogy," "Dead of Night" consists of three horror stories, and also like "Trilogy," the first two stories are only mediocre.
Dan Curtis tried to reinvent this tale with Lysette Anthony in "Trilogy of Terror II," but the remake comes nowhere near close to capturing the dark, claustrophobic horror of the original.
In 1975 Trilogy of Terror was a success so Dan Curtis directed this follow up although it is not as well known.
