Dan Hartman (December 8, 1950 - March 22, 1994) was an American singer, songwriter and record producer.
Hartman played keyboards and wrote much of the band's music, but although several records were released they were not hits.
Hartman reached the peak of his lengthy career in 1978 with the Number 1 single "Instant Replay", which to this day remains a popular oldie (one of the musicians Hartman worked with on the album was Vinnie Vincent).

Dan's interest in music can be traced back to his childhood classical piano playing which was put on hold when he joined The Legends, a band set up Dave Hartman, Dan's brother, at the age of 13.
Dan was in the UK during 1985/1986 producing and appeared on the "Wogan Show" (BBC) and "The Wide Awake Club" (TV-AM) performing "Get Outa Town" and "Waiting to See You" (Co-penned with Charlie Midnight), which was performed live at the newly revamped Liverpool Docks in a TV show called "Rock Around The Dock".
Dan Hartman moved from the Schoolhouse, which he rented, and bought a house, built on multi-levels, on the banks of the river in Westport.

Hartman's multi-instrumental talents and light tenor were first heard by North America at large when he served bands led, together and separately, by Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter.
Riding the disco bandwagon, Hartman next enjoyed international success with the title track to Instant Replay and another of its singles, 'This Is It' (both of which were among the first records to be released on 12-inch vinyl).
He died from AIDS-related complications in 1994, just as his career was being reappraised (his material was much sampled by dance bands, notably Black Box on their huge hit 'Ride On Time', while Take That took his 'Relight My Fire' to the UK number 1 spot).
