  Brutal Truth
In 1985, S.O.D set the world a moshing with their landmark LP 'Speak English or Die', eventually influencing the crossover of the thrash metal genre with hardcore punk.
Seven years on, and 1992 saw what began as bassist Dan Lilker's creative outlet outside of a now cliched genre.
Meanwhile, Danny Lilker contributed to another side project, Exit 13.

A lot of importance must also be attached to the lyrics of the band, who have not followed the fashion of writing about Satan and witches, but rather focused on everyday problems such as drugs and violence.
After this recording, Dan Lilker decided to leave the band and was replaced by Frank Bello, Charlie's nephew.
The two other band members were Billy Milano and their former member Dan Lilker who they were still friends with.

Anthrax's first album with vocalist Joey Belladonna is a huge leap forward, featuring strongly rhythmic, pounding riffs and vocals that alternate between hardcore-type shouting and surprising amounts of melody.
Two tracks left over from the Dan Lilker days are here as well.
The traditional metal lyrical fare is more original, while also introducing a penchant for paying tribute to favorite fictional characters and pop culture artifacts ("Lone Justice" and "Medusa" are prime examples).

Metal-Rules.com: Interview With Dan Lilker (Nuclear Assault, Brutal Truth, S.O.D.)
Fans of '80s thrash -- and any metal fans that have been around for a while -- will recognize the name and face of Dan Lilker.
Whether tackling ideas like nuclear war and environmental despoliation in Nuclear Assault, giving the middle finger to the world through the caustic strains of S.O.D., or stretching the frontiers of grindcore with Brutal Truth, the thin, satirically-minded bassist has seen a lot of metal history.
I guess I'd like to be remembered as such, as someone who functioned independently of whatever the current trend was.

Bio: Nearly as much as Metallica or Megadeth, Anthrax was responsible for the emergence of speed and thrash metal.
Combining the speed and fury of hardcore punk with the prominent guitars and vocals of heavy metal, they helped create a new subgenre of heavy metal on their early albums.
Original guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz were a formidable pair, spitting out lightning-fast riffs and solos that never seemed masturbatory.

Bass player Dan Lilker formed Nuclear Assault with vocalist John Connelly after Lilker recorded with Anthrax on their 1984 Fistful Of Metal debut, which is perhaps the best release from Anthrax.
Their final disc, Something Wicked This Way Comes, was the first Nuclear Assault disc to feature a configuration without Dan Lilker.
The release is fairly short (total playing time 38:08), but most of their best songs are included, and they clearly didn’t wimp out in terms of speed when playing their classic material.
