Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) lives in Western Springs -- that is, he moved there from Tennessee after his dad, former Rep. William Lipinski (D-Ill.), lured him home with the promise that he would be handed his seat with the help of political sleight of hand.
Dan Lipinski is one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress, and Kelly, from what I gathered when we talked last week, is running to Lipinski's right.
Even though Dan Lipinski may be a decent and educated individual, we feel that he is not qualified to handle the issues of his district.

ABC7Chicago.com: Incumbent Lipinski faces re-election battle
Dan Lipinski was virtually unopposed when he ran for congress the first time two years ago, because his powerful father timed his retirement announcement, and the slating of his son who had been a college professor in Tennessee, with perfect political precision.
Lipinski says he voted absentee some years, in person others, and he claims to have earned re-election, in spite of the nepotism charges, by working hard on the issues of transportation, jobs, health care and education.
John Kelly is closer to Lipinski on the issues, but he vigorously denies the suggestion that he is in the race to help the incumbent by taking votes away from Sullivan.

CQPolitics.com - IL 3: Lipinski Wins Nod Despite Signs of Dissent From Dems
Freshman Illinois Democratic Rep. Dan Lipinski was renominated Tuesday in the 3rd Congressional District, where he faced Democratic primary voters for the first time — because of the fluky way in which he was picked to run in 2004 to succeed his father, former 11-term Rep. William O. Lipinski.
Though Lipinski won easily, the vote for him was subpar for an incumbent: With about 58 percent of the vote counted, Lipinski had 56 percent to lead two opponents: financial consultant John T. Kelly, who had 24 percent, and local prosecutor John P. Sullivan, with 20 percent.
Having survived the primary threat, though, Lipinski is a shoo-in for re-election.
