Dan Luger has further complicated matters for Lions coach Graham Henry with the news that he has suffered a facial injury and is definitely out of Saturday's match with New South Wales.
Henry and his backroom staff are concerned that Luger may have picked up a fracture or a concussion.
If that proves to be the case, Luger would be forced to take an automatic 21-day rest and this would certainly upset Henry's plans as Luger was expected to feature in his first Test team.

DAN Luger has touched down 24 times for England in a career spanning just 38 matches, and despite a scoring record that beats that of Jonah Lomu, the speedster is perhaps better known as being England’s infamous 16th man.
Luger was pushed on to the field during last year’s World Cup while Mike Tindall was still receiving treatment, and the press, at least the Australian section of it, treated him to the sort of abuse usually reserved for those who relieve grannies of their pensions.
Luger missed the opening of the French season back in August with a niggling injury, but since his medical records are measured in volumes rather than pages he was probably grateful that it was weeks rather than months on the sidelines.

Dan Luger, the world-class winger who used to terrify southern hemisphere opponents and still in the first flush of youth, has, as everyone knows, quite rightly been chosen ahead of even younger players on the fringe who might have benefited from exposure to international sevens rugby as a bridge towards 15-a-side international rugby.
I wasn't sure about Luger as a player until the 2003 Lions tour - even though he got injured before the tests the warm-up games showed just what a class out-and-out winger he was, to my eyes at least.
