Both directions of the Dan Ryan from 13th Street to the Bishop Ford (I-94)/ I-57 Interchange on Chicago’s South Side will be reduced to as few as three open lanes during the reconstruction project to build a safer, less congested Dan Ryan.
During the 2006 construction season, IDOT rehabilitated the inbound Dan Ryan bridge from 31st Street to Roosevelt Road (1200 south); reconstructed both directions of the express lanes between 31st St. and 71st Street; and rebuilt and widened the outside lanes from 71st Street to the I-57/Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94) interchange.
The Dan Ryan will be smoother and safer because of the additional lane and longer entrance and exit ramps to allow more time for drivers to merge.
