The danger of lacking focus is always potentially terminal with a political career as unusual as Dana's, in that in trying to please everybody you end up annoying a lot of people too, such as her original backers in 1999.
Her 'pseudo-naivete' style of five years ago worked then when people were prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt and see, but this time around, it was patently obvious that little had been achieved in the five years.
If Dana does decide to run next autumn, a complete change of focus is needed if she is to convince the electorate that she really has an alternative vision to offer.
