HMS Danae (F47) was a Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy (RN).
In 1974, Danae deployed to the Persian Gulf to patrol that region.
Danae subsequently undertook a Beira Patrol, which was designed to prevent oil reaching landlocked Rhodesia via the then Portuguese colony of Mozambique, of which the port of Beira there gave its name to the operation.

HMS Danae was Commissioned in Plymouth on the 10th of October 1967.
One of her more interesting jobs was that of escorting, in company with HMS Naiad, the Royal Yacht Britannia on the Queens visit to South America.

The Danae was renamed ORP Conrad in honour of the author who wrote in English under the name Joseph Conrad (Josefa Korzeniowskiego a former mariner) and loaned to Poland by the British.
After this action the Danae was destined to be scrapped unlike the Dragon which was torpedoed deliberately to form part of a breakwater.
In December 1941 and January 1942 Danae took part in the defence of the Dutch Indies against Japanese aggression, and it guarded convoys sailing between Batavia and Ceylon.
