Contact Improvisation is a form of dance improvisation.
Contact Improvisation was developed by a group of dance artists led by Steve Paxton as an exploration in improvised dance.
These dance jams are similar to the practice of jazz musicians bringing themselves together and using the time to explore the limits of the form.

Dance improvisation classes for adults and kids as well as contact improvisation workshops, lectures, a panel discussion and two nights of performances incorporating dance and technology will be held at the Dance Improvisation Festival, Sept. 29-30, in Lathrop Hall, 1050 University Ave.
"Dance (movement) improvisation, with its physical-psychological significance and immediate motion, is often used to enhance creativity, performance, self-liberation, and group-awareness," says festival director and assistant professor of dance Jin-Wen Yu.

Contact improvisation is a form of dance dueting “that emphasizes the qualities of mutual trust and interdependence by requiring ongoing contact between the two participants.
The dance form was referred to as contact improvisation in the sources the encyclopedia and dictionaries that I used early on in my search and therefore I assume that it is an accurate description of the form and will be the most effective search term.
Dance improvisation is addressed in several articles that discuss the healing nature of creative dance forms and one article that discusses the curative qualities of dance improvisation.
