  Sarah Amos - Reeves Contemporary
Amos came initially to the United States in the early 1990s, to attend the Tamarind Institute of Lithography in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Amos has also taught for the last three years at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and has hosted a variety of printmaking workshops through the United States, Italy and Australia.
But Amos does not let the work get away from her: working carefully with color and patterns, she keeps the paintings in check, giving a subtle but immovable boundary of color field and tonal juxtaposition.

BOOK OF AMOS : Encyclopedia Entry
Amos was a prophet during the reign of Jeroboam ben Joash (Jeroboam II), ruler of Israel from 793 BCE to 753 BCE, and the reign of Uzziah, King of Judah, at a time when both kingdoms (Israel in the North and Judah in the South) were peaking in prosperity.
Amos, however, is the first prophet whose name also serves as the title of the corresponding biblical book in which his story is found.
Some scholars believe that Amos' message was recorded after he delivered it to the Northern Kingdom, upon returning to his southern homeland of Tekoa, a town eight kilometres south of Bethlehem.

Daniel Amos (aka DA or Dä) is an American rock band formed in 1974 by Terry Scott Taylor on guitars and vocals, Marty Dieckmeyer on bass guitar, Steve Baxter on guitars and Jerry Chamberlain on lead guitars.
It could be said that the roots of Daniel Amos began to grow out of Jubal's Last Band, an acoustic quartet consisting of Taylor, Kenny Paxton, Chuck Starnes and Steve Baxter, who spent their time performing for Bible study groups and at coffee shops throughout Southern California.
Daniel Amos succeeded in landing a recording and performance contract, and quickly recorded their first song for the label in 1975, Taylor's Ain't Gonna Fight It.

 HM - Daniel Amos Review
This sprawling double album is so unique, so full of life, so slobbered over with creativity, so packed with crazy good songs, and new things to say, it's impossible to review adequately without sounding like a raving fanboy.
For all of my adoration of Terry S. Taylor (the band's visionary songwriter and singer / guitarist), I can admit that to me his role in the Lost Dogs and his solo work in the past ten years was far more compelling than what he had been doing with this, his primary band.
Sure the DA albums released after it may have had occasional brilliant songs, or deeply affecting moments, but they lacked both the coherency and the ferocious thrill of prime Daniel Amos.

Daniel Amos (DA) Biography - AOL Music   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Founded (for the most part) in 1975, Daniel Amos, or DA (or Da or dä), has been one of the most creative bands in the history of Christian music; indeed, their aggressive creativity and song craftsmanship are seldom paralleled in the whole genre of pop music in general.
Led by singer/guitarist/songwriter Terry Taylor, Daniel Amos has been on the forefront of pop music both musically and lyrically, with lyrics exploring the subject of spirituality and the relationship between God and humanity.
Starting out as a country & western band in the early to mid-'70s, Daniel Amos -- then comprised of Steve Baxter, Terry Taylor, Marty Dieckmeyer, and Jerry Chamberlain -- had an almost instantaneous live appeal and their popularity and fame spread very quickly among the Jesus Movement scene.

Daniel Amos - a Review of The Phantom Tollbooth
And at any point in the life of Daniel Amos you could stop someone on the street to talk about this amazing band's music, and it's likely John Smith or Jane Doe would say, "Daniel who?" However, the importance of Daniel Amos to alternative Christian music cannot be overestimated.
Regardless, Daniel Amos has served as an inspiration for countless Christian bands, not only because they engender creativity with their insightful lyrics and groundbreaking musical arrangements; Daniel Amos has served as an inspiration because with The Alarma Chronicles they committed to an artistic vision and pursued it without conceding to commercial concerns.
In my estimation, Daniel Amos took a radical step with Doppelganger toward being the exceptional band they would be in the late eighties and early nineties, lyrically sophisticated and musically superior to most of their contemporaries.

For those new to the wonderful world of Christian music genius Terry Taylor, Daniel Amos are a band not a person and the title for this album is ironic.
Still wildly underrated Daniel Amos always seemed to manage to be ahead of the game and create music that pushed back barriers without ever managing to receive the sales and acclaim they deserved.
That quibble aside, this album is a fabulous reminder of just what a great group Daniel Amos continue to be and with band leader Terry Taylor firmly ensconced as A&R director at KMG Records, perhaps there'll be more re-releases and some new material soon.

The debut recording from cutting-edge Christian rock group Daniel Amos is a country album complete with pedal steel guitars and southern accents.
The first word that comes to mind about this recording is "naïve." Lyrics are simple and have a juvenile quality to them in many places -- specifically contriving the lyrics out of a natural flow to make them rhyme.
Those who enjoy Daniel Amos' later work but equate country music with sour milk will be surprised to find some interesting songs here reminiscent of America, particularly "Don't Light Your Own Fire" and "Ain't Gonna Fight It," the former featuring great hand percussion work by later Daniel Amos member Alex MacDougall.

Spoon: Gimme Fiction - PopMatters Music Review
The sound of Gimme Fiction is as ideal a conceptualization of the band as could be imagined; Daniel and Eno's distinctive piano and drum sounds are familiar and progressive propellers, the songs themselves are initially elusive to fully grasp and only gradually work their way deep under the skin.
It begins at the shoreline of the primordial swamp: "The Beast and Dragon, Adored" is the fish adapting to land, legs functioning but waking from sleep, lumbering from the muck and taking in air for the first time.
Ill-omened piano chords sit atop Jim Eno's big beat; Daniel's mouth's full of marbles split and broken, the soft bits caught under his tongue and the jagged edges grating his teeth; the lyrics allude haphazardly to the songs yet to come and the ideas forming within the song's spacious atmosphere.

CCM Hall of Fame: Daniel Amos
Originally hailing from the Calvary Chapel “Jesus Music” scene of 1970s California, Taylor, Jerry Chamberlain, Greg Flesch, Tim Chandler and Ed McTaggart are collectively known as Daniel Amos (also known as DA and Da), a name derived from two Old Testament prophets.
The band began as a country-turned-new wave act and, by the early ‘80s, led the way as a pioneering alternative-rock band.
Though now relegated for “financial and logistical” reasons to only the occasional festival appearance, Daniel Amos goes on.
