Daniel Chatto's starting point is the memories of journeys undertaken through India.
Chatto transfigures the mundane into the realms of the visionary.
Chatto makes all his own paints and pastels, and from a rich and diverse palette, an interest in fresco has led Chatto to adopt pure pigments which are entirely mineral and dug from the earth.

MILNET Brief - The Daniel Project - Israel's Strategic Future
Project Daniel began with the assumption that Israel’s security environment must be appraised continuously, and that the threat of irrational state and nonstate enemies armed with WMD assets represents the single most urgent danger to the country’s survival.
Project Daniel is a private and informed effort to identify the overriding existential threats to Israel and their prospective remedies.
The main argument of this carefully orchestrated movement is that nonproliferation burdens should be borne “fairly and equally” by all states in the region, and that Israel cannot be an exception.

Long and Ryle - Welcome   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
Daniel Chatto's imagery is fuelled by recollections of journeys taken through India - the distilling effect of memory concentrates and clarifies the colour and the composition.
Daniel Chatto uses pigments which are entirely mineral, dug from the earth and would have been the standard issue from about the thirteenth century.
This seeming limitation has liberated the work to become intensely coloured as the pigment is used mostly pure, and applied in the most direct fashion to handmade paper.

Daniel Snowman tells the story with sober respect and restraint, but it is impossible, reading this book, not to draw conclusions which every politician ought to consider before opening his mouth on the subject of immigration.
The Conservative MP who, a few months back, was comparing mass immigration to adding water to whisky might like to ask himself whether the establishment of Glyndebourne, the acquisition of the Warburg library and Pevsner's survey of the buildings of England could fairly be described in such a way.
