Daniel (John) Erlandsson, is the drummer in the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy.
Daniel's older brother is Adrian Erlandsson, the drummer of At the Gates and the former drummer of Cradle of Filth.
Erlandsson's technique is rather to focus on the "feeling" than on technique, however he does incorporate a lot of kickdrumming, occasional blastbeats and sometimes his very own technical odd time signitures which grasp perfectly with Cradle of Filth's music.

Daniel Erlandsson: I would give credit to my brother for that, because he was the one who had a drum kit in our house.
Daniel Erlandsson: Well, lately there was a rumour that we were going to be playing in Mexico, but no one told us about it.

Arch Enemy (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arch Enemy, the brainchild of Michael Amott (ex-Carcass, Carnage and Spiritual Beggars) was originally assembled from the ashes of legendary British death metal/goregrind band Carcass.
In 1999, Sharlee D'Angelo assumed the role of Arch Enemy's permanent bassist, and Daniel Erlandsson was once again recruited to handle drum duties, this time on a permanent basis.
Anthems of Rebellion was released in 2003 and brought some innovations, such as the use of a second voice singing in harmony in the song "End of the Line".

Daniel had started to record the first ARCH ENEMY record and soon thereafter started to gig with them to promote the album.

You may recognize the surname Erlandsson and yes, he is the brother to Adrian Erlandsson (Cradle Of Filth).
Playing to a sold-out Forum in London, Daniel and fellow members Angela Gossow (vocals), Michael Arnott (guitar), Christopher Arnott (guitar) and Sharlee D’Angelo (bass) were set to shred it up for their army of fans in the U.K..
This showed as Daniel was highlighted with a drum solo in the middle of their recorded set - excellent double bass drum work with orchestral stabs.

Arch Enemy - Remnants of Reason   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Daniel Erlandsson's drumming is top-notch, he expertly balances rhythm with flash, always keeping the direction of the song steady.
How much the drumming may change the overall sound of this band is best evidenced on the opening track, which is the closest in sound to their older material (Daniel Erlandsson is the original drummer, and he plays on Beast of Man).
I'd place a lot of the refocusing of the group back on drummer Daniel Erlandsson, a gifted individual who helps define what metal drumming is. His powerful base allows the brothers Amott freedom to explore, yet reminds them when it's time to come home from arpeggio heaven, if you know what I mean.

Amott, together with his brother Christopher also on guitars, Daniel Erlandsson on drums and vocalist Johan Liiva, formed Arch Enemy and without even a demo behind them, they teamed up with producer Fredrik Nordström to record their debut, Black Earth.
Erlandsson’s focus other than his own playing is all about the mighty Black Sabbath and the legendary Iron Maiden as there are no other bands that he really wants to see as badly as those two big name metal acts.
Erlandsson had a suspicion that something like this was coming before the recording of their latest album commenced.

HMV - Search - Artist - Arch Enemy
Formed by ex-Carnage, Carcass, and Candlemass guitarist Michael Amott (concurrently of Spiritual Beggars) with his brother Christopher (Armageddon), Arch Enemy took a straight-ahead approach to death metal reminiscent of Entombed or late-period Carcass, blending catchy, classic-style metal riffs with crushing grooves for an intense yet accessible sound.
The group's charter lineup was rounded out by bassist/vocalist Johan Liiva (Carnage, Furbowl) and drummer Daniel Erlandsson (Eucharist, session work for In Flames); they released their debut album, Black Earth, in 1996.
For their second album, 1998's Stigmata, Armageddon bassist Martin Bengtsson took over those duties from vocalist Liiva, while Armageddon drummer Peter Wildoer sat in for Erlandsson.

Musically, it's a good continuation of what began on Lunar Strain, yet a lot of the more traditional elements are shed, retaining the melody and acoustic sections, yet not as "out of place" as they could seem on the debut.
The movement towards the pop realm is still taking place, but I have to hand it to In Flames for keeping the faith in the vocal department, because to my ears, that's the main factor keeping this band from the mainstream limelight (well, and maybe that lightning double bass work).
The move of Bjorn Gelotte from drums to lead guitar really didn't have as profound of an effect on Colony as it does here, Daniel Svensson able to really stretch out his performances, shining through on several spots on the album.

Being one of those few here that actually likes Arch Enemy, I was kind of interested to hear this side project from drummer Daniel Erlandsson.
A Decade in the Dark shows some flashes of promise for a traditional metal band, but it sounds more like a half-formed garage band searching for its sound than a group of well-established musicians.

The band then released a mini-CD called Subterranean, that became the "breaker" for IN FLAMES, in terms of getting out off the underground scene, that is, and led them to get a license deal with German company Nuclear Blast for the next record, and they have been there since then.
The idea to do this came very natural as they had started working like this on the last record, but this time they wanted to go even further away from Sweden, to prevent any kinds of distractions.
The result was 11 songs, and then two more followed as they went into another recording process, although this time they moved all their gear and Daniel Bergstrands studio equipment into a larger house in Denmark to do the recording ina much more relaxed atmosphere.
