Daniel Ken Inouye (born September 7, 1924) is the senior United States Senator from Hawaii.
On May 23, 2005, Inouye was one of fourteen moderate senators to forge a compromise on the Democrats' use of the judicial filibuster, thus blocking the Republican leadership's attempt to implement the so-called "nuclear option".
Under the agreement, the Democrats would retain the power to filibuster a Bush judicial nominee only in an "extraordinary circumstance", and the three most conservative Bush appellate court nominees (Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owen and William Pryor) would receive a vote by the full Senate.

Last July, Victoria's Daniel Lapp and his band Lappelectro performed a set at the WOMAD Festival in Redmond, Washington that was astoundingly brilliant.

Lapp says his experience of living in Vancouver and contributing to the improvised music scene, as a member of New Orchestra Workshop and groups including Unity, prepared him well for Lappelectro's completely improvised approach.

He is heard on this CD performing a well-rounded program at a Montreal concert in 1995 with a swinging quartet comprised of pianist Geoff Lapp, bassist Daniel Lessard and drummer Andre White.
Although Lapp has some good solos, the main focus is on Steprans who, on a rare instrumental version of Johnny Mandel's "Where Do You Start," gives the recent ballad a treatment reminiscent of Coltrane on "I Want to Talk About You," complete with closing cadenza.
