The Piccolo does not use this method but passes the native Amiga video signal through when switching to a screen which is not displayed on the Piccolo itself (like DPaint, Brilliance or games).
All you have to do to let the Piccolo 'control the whole' is to start the ScreenMode program from your Prefs drawer, select a Piccolo screenmode of your choice (only the ones which your monitor is able to display can be selected) and leave the program via 'Use' or, better, 'Save'.
The hardware of the Piccolo is *very* similar to the one of the GVP Spectrum, and they both use EGS - they should achieve similar performance.

But when I arrived yesterday afternoon at the Chapel Theatre a few minutes before showtime (my Piccolo pass is good for entry only when seats are available) I found a completely sold-out show, and a dozen or so people milling about hoping to get in.
That’s fantastic for Trustus, though — particularly since nearly all Piccolo productions (unlike those of Spoleto) are self-produced, which means the performers themselves are the ones left holding the bag if nobody buys tickets to their gig.
Putting up a show in Piccolo is a big financial risk, especially if you’re from out of town, even more so if you’re presenting something with an edge to it (see also Piccolo’s LiLita on that subject).

Born Juan Esteban Aristizabal in the notorious city of Medellin, Juanes also creates a distinctive mood to his music.

The group's sound, while incorporating elements of traditional alteplano folk music, strongly evokes the classic rock sounds of that decade.

From the Chapel Theatre, I hoofed it up Calhoun to King and across a flag-filled Marion Square to John Street and Charleston Music Hall, where I found Sheri Grace Wenger in the lobby overseeing the start of a 5pm show from longtime Piccolo fave Quintango.
Since Footlight isn’t producing its own Piccolo series this year, Wenger decided to make them part of her new series at Charleston Music Hall, which has never been utilized for the festivals, apart from the occasional Pat Conroy lecture about depression or suicide.
Wenger’s got a big lineup of audience-friendly stuff at the Music Hall, which technically may be the most sophisticated performance venue in town (and rent for the facility reflects that).
