The first election was held the third Monday in September, 1853, at the Wasson house: officers: Samuel Apgar, chairman; Frank Wasson and Comfort Barnes, commissioners; Al G. Apgar, sheriff; H. Spencer, treasurer; William H. Nobles, register of deeds and county surveyor; Daniel Apgar, judge of probate; E. Greenleaf, clerk of court; L. Brown, district attorney.
The board also constituted the entire county one election precinct, and the Wasson house, the first hotel at Shakopee, the place of election, with Alvin Dorward, Samuel Apgar and H. Koons, judges of election.
The board appointed Daniel Apgar judge of probate, and William H. Nobles county surveyor.
