Aiello, looking dapper in a fl suit and dark shades, clearly is working in the Italian crooner tradition, and his choice of repertoire and stylistic approach doesn't exactly bear the stamp of originality.
Aiello isn't afraid to ham it up, wandering through the audience and shamelessly serenading every woman in sight with "You Made Me Love You." His performance of "Besame Mucho" is similarly melodramatic, shamelessly milking every drop of pathos from that famously romantic number.
While Aiello's voice is merely adequate, his band is absolutely terrific, with particularly sterling contributions from a four-piece horn section that includes Mike Hashim on alto sax and Walter Szymanski on trumpet.
