In Gare’s rookie year I was five-years old, my parents had season tickets in the first row of the oranges, and it was the year I attended my first Sabres games.
Clearly if Gare was playing on an old team steeped in history, such as Montreal or Toronto, then no, he wouldn’t be having his jersey retired.
So in the grand scheme of things, Gare surely was one of the Sabres best players, and he played during their greatest era.
