On the first play of the next series, Danny McManus threw him one he came nowhere near.
Flutie was supposed to run a flat route, but McManus saw someone overplaying it, and knew Flutie would see it, too.
Michelangelo said, "Yeah, I do ceilings." What Flutie did was throw himself parallel to the earth and turn the incompletion into a first down that kept the drive alive and gave Sean Fleming the first of his two chances to win it.

Backup quarterback Marcus Brady took over for McManus in Edmonton, but head coach Greg Marshall told the Hamilton Spectator on Monday that Jones and Brady will take an equal number of snaps in practice this week.
Khari Jones could be back in action Saturday night when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Ottawa Renegades at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

McManus is a 16-year CFL veteran and played eight seasons (280 games) with Hamilton, throwing for 33,841 yards and 164 touchdowns.

The Hamilton quarterback is about to enter his eighth black and gold training camp, probably as No. 1, which would tie him with Bernie Faloney (1957-64) for the longest tenure among all-time Ticat starting pivots.
