Splendid: Departments: Bookshelf: An interview with Danny Wallace, author (and Leader) of 'Join Me'.
Danny's faith in the world (and in the transformational power of Join Me) was severely shaken when he discovered that Raymond Price was actually a petty con artist who, in Danny's earnest Joinees, had found his most willing marks ever -- but by that point Join Me was too big to stop.
Danny Wallace: Yeah, there's a whole chapter gone, and other bits that had to be shortened, just because, apparently, in America they like their books to be about 200 pages, so we had to lose a lot.
Danny Wallace: A couple of people, I think, let Join Me be too much of their life, or they relied on Join Me a bit too much, and then they became slightly overwhelmed and had to leave for a while for their own good.

FT Reviews: Danny Wallace’s Hoax Files
Danny Wallace has previously fronted the show Conspiracies, which dabbles in Forteana but usually serve up rather thin fare with only the few occasional morsels of real interested mixed in.
Wallace covered it in a minute and a half, most of which was taken up with a ramble about her being the first pointless celebrity.
Although half of the time was devoted to Danny Wallace messing around in a gorilla suit, it was interesting to see Bob Heironimus and, for the first time so far, I did sit up when none other than Friend of the FTMB Jon Erik Beckjord hove into view with a whole bundle of wacky claims.

In the earlier days, I was a little uneasy with the term "cult leader," because cults tend to get a bad press, but my cult is a nice cult.
