English-born bassist Pete Watson had for some time been a member of Melbourne instrumental outfit The Phantoms when, by one of those strange quirks of fate, the precocious fifteen year old amateur Mike Brady (also a British immigrant).
Danny was playing in a similarly dated Melbourne-based instrumental band, The Saxons, and from then on the trio never looked back.
Apart from showing off the dynamic interplay between the three musicians (including Danny's famous drumstick twirling), the handful of MPD records we have are almost uniformly memorable for their full-bodied sound, arguably among the best-sounding productions from that era.

The 8th and 9th are in good hands with Mota and Wickman but, earlier than that, I think the Tribe will have their fingers crossed that the kids can hold it together and/or Danny Graves can step up.
