Way botched the landing on his first attempt but then successfully completed the jump across the 61-foot gap four times, adding 360 degree spins on his last three tries, sponsor Quiksilver, Inc. said.
Way's made the jump on an adaptation of the so-called mega ramp, a gigantic structure that he helped create near his home in the Southern California desert.

Danny Way spent about $100,000 building 48- & 64-foot-tall drop ins, to about 12-foot-tall launch ramps that clear 60- & 75-foot gaps (& then hit a 27-foot tall quarter-pipe).
Although it's got such a huge tranny, it's got to be somewhat easy to find a place to stick your kneepads on the way down, and even though you're going faster, it's probably a smoother glide down to the flat than a tighter/smaller ramp.
